On the Niger river, Mali

The Niger river has for centuries been main highway connecting various remote outposts in this vast harsh and arid environment. And the only ones having real knowledge of its inner quirks, flats, bends and pitfalls are Bozo boatmen navigating it with elegance and utter ease in their pirogues, pinasses and makeshift boats usually crammed to the top with people, livestock, necessities and the occasional motorbike.
